Thorn & Root sits on twelve acres of reclaimed tobacco land in the French Broad River valley. The farm operates on a closed-loop model — compost feeds soil, soil feeds plants, plants feed people, and the cycle continues without external inputs.
What We Grow
- Seasonal vegetables — spring greens through winter roots, no off-season imports
- Heritage poultry — eggs and occasional meat birds, pasture-raised
- Medicinal herbs — dried blends, tinctures, and salves made on-site
Community Integration
We supply three local buying clubs and run a sliding-scale CSA. Members choose their commitment level. Nobody gets turned away for lack of funds.
Weekly farm days are open to anyone in the network. Come learn, come work, come eat. The land doesn’t care about your credentials — just your willingness to show up.
